Somers Boys and Girls Second at Sectionals

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH THE BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS WHO WERE SECTIONAL CLASS B RUNNER-UPS AT Sunday's Sectional Championships at the Armory. Both teams won Sectional Runner-up Plaques.

The Boys lost a hard fought battle to Harrison 87-83, with Pearl River also right there with 80 points. The meet was tied at 79 points with one event to go and came down to the 4 x 400 meter relay. Harrison is the number one Class B team in the State in the latest poll, with Somers at number 3, just behind Pearl River. The three top Class B teams in the State all finished within seven points of each other. The Somers field events team scored 46 points, the most in the meet by far and the most inschool history at the meet. The throwers led the way with 28 points. Somers has won 9 titles since 1998 and 10 overall. Since 2001 we have been only first or second at Sectionals.

The Girls placed second with 66 points behind the #2 Class B team in the State Pearl River who scored 134 points. Somers is ranked sixth in the latest poll.
