Zorn shatters freshman 1600m record
Freshman Justin Zorn placed 4th tonight in the freshman 1600m in a time of 4:46.3 to break Niko Viglione's time of 4:49 from 2002. Zorn actually negative split the race, going 2:24-2:22 and set the tone for a great day for the Somers boys. In the varsity 1600m, senior Frankie Licursi ran 4:39.9 for a huge 14 second PR to lead 6 Tuskers under 4:50 on the day. Sophomore Scott Friedman ran 4:42.2 and junior Charles Conway 4:42.6 with junior Isaac Shelby right behind in 4:44.3. Sophomore David Sammel ran 4:48, though he ran 4:44 last weekend. Also breaking 5:00 on the day were Mike Persic (4:54), Mike Rosillo (4:55), Kai Cranell (4:55) and Ryan Matsumoto (4:56). It was the first time in school history that ten boys all broke 5 minutes on the same day.
The 4x200m relay team of Jonathan Garcia, Jake Robatel, Anthony Pierotti, and Jonathan Groton ran 1:34.3 to just miss the school record of 1:34.2, which was set in 2006.
