League Meet 2013 Boys 

 It was a great day for the boys and girls teams at the league IB Championship Meet which was held at Somers last Monday. Both teams won convincingly. Both teams have won 11 or more League Titles since 2000.   For the boys, Somers posted 161.5 points with North Salem second with 44.5 points. John Jay-CR placed third with 42 points and JFK Catholic scored 28 points in 4th place. 

  The Tuskers depth was solid with multiple scorers in many events using five place scoring. The top end scoring was also very good with Somers winning 12 of 18 events. Freshman Alex Worsley won the the 400 meter dash in a very good time 53.2 earning All League Honors with the win. He was a triple winner, as he anchored the winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 meter relays also. On the 4 x 100 meter relay which won in a time of 47.4, Worsley teamed with Matt Michaud, Rudy Lepe and Spencer Davis. On the 4 x 400 meter relay which won with a time of 3:41.1 he clocked a time of 55.0 and teamed with Nick Schleissmann (55.1), Alex Graap (55.7), and Rudy Lepe (55.0). Rudy was a double winner in the relays and also placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.9.


Josh Prywes was also a triple winner taking  the shot put, discus and javelin throw. Prywes won the shot put with a heave of 39'6.5". He won the discus with a throw of 111'3 leading a 1-6 Somers sweep in that event. Prywes finished his trifecta with an effort of 124'11" in the javelin throw.
Justin Zorn won the 800 meter run, taking the lead and never relinquishing it in a time of 2:04.0. Mike Polvere won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:49.2. Zorn and Polvere later teamed with Mike Maloney and Joe Larocca to also win the 4 x 800 meter relay in a time of 9:09.8.
Alex Mattos won the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 16.9. Mattos also placed second in the 400 meter hurdles in a very close race with a personal best time of 61.2. Mattos also placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5'6". Teammate Casey Lux placed second in the high jump with a personal best leap of 5'6". Mattos also placed second in the triple jump with a distanceof 39' 8". Teammate Zach Handszer who has been improving weekly, narrolwy won the triple jump with a leap of 39'8.75".
