Girls roll at Yorktown, average 21:29

Instructed to stay together, run 90% early and then bring it home a little bit faster, the girls varsity team handily beat Yorktown and John Jay CR to win their first 2 duals of the season.  The top five girls place 3-4-5-6-7 overall as Maggie Hashmall, Eve Marenghi, Bene Abbate, Crosby Tillman, and Sarah Corning ran 21:21-21:23, 21:31, 21:34, and 21:38 for a fantastic average of 21:29.

All the girls looked good but Hashmall especially looked smooth and relaxed.  And how about the 5K debut for freshman Bene Abbate?  Running her first race for the Tuskers at the HS level, Bene's 21:30 was the best 5K debut for a Tusker since Mary Alice Howard in 2002 (Howard's Result's here)

The boys, running without their top 11 runners, gave John Jay a race but still wound up losing both meets.  Mike Maloney led the way in 18:50 with Ben D'Urso and Mike Polvere right behind him.  Larry Courtien and Dan Carleton rounded out the scoring 5, who average 19:35.
