Girls win Galway Invitational 37-55 over Scotia-Glenville

It was a pack effort as The Somers Tuskers traveled to Section 2 for the Galway Invitational.  Maggie Hashmall led the way in 4th place and the 5th Tusker, Crosby Tillman, was 10th in 19:29.  That's a 24 second compression and the best in school history.  Eve Marenghi was 6th in 19:15, Sarah Corning was 8th in 19:24, freshman Bene Abbate was 9th in 19:27.  After a slow start to the year the girls are running better than ever.

Sophomore Jackie Kruger was 17th overall in 20:40, actually beating Scotia's 5th girls, as did first time XC runner Kat Delandri who placed 36th in 22:28.

The Somers boys also won their race, beating Glens Falls 26-58 with a 15:30 average even though they ran without the 2nd man from Big Red, Scott Friedman, who will be back next race.  Charles Conway was 2nd again, this time in 15:07 on the 2.82 mile course.  Sophomore Justin Zorn was the 2 man in 15:18.  Zorn actually took the lead at the 2 mile mark and then hung on for 4th.  Isaac Shelby was 5th in 15:25 and David Sammel was 7th in 15:34.  Shelby's race was his best XC ever and a step in the right direction.  5th man on the day was Ryan Matsumoto who ran 16:05 to place 9th while Kai Crannell was 13th in 16:22, both very good race for them.
