GREAT RESULTS AT COUNTY MEET

Congratulations to both the Boys and Girls teams who won the Westchester County Class B Titles Sunday at the Armory. The Boys were also third overall in the County with 44 Points, our best finish in several years of 40 plus teams. The Girls team was fourth with 39 points overall, also an excellent showing.

Congrats also to individual County Champs - Scott Friedman in the 1000 meter run with a huge personal best time of 2:33.80, and Kristi Licursi who won the 1500 meter racewalk with a time of 7:42.06.

NEW BALANCE MEET CANCELLED FOR SOMERS - except Girls 4 x 800 Meter Relay

All Somers High School events have been canceled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 21.
WE WILL NOT BE GOING TO THE NEW BALANCE GAMES.
With the possible exception of the girls 4 x 800 meter relay who will be driven to the meet by parents - if the superintendent deems the weather safe in the evening. ALL OTHER EVENTS FOR SOMERS ARE CANCELED.

The Yale Trip is still on and the team is safely in New Haven before the snow arrives.

Run on a treadmill or exercise machine for 45-60 minutes on Saturday and Sunday, and lift weights if you have them.

YALE TRIP IS ON THIS WEEKEND

The Yale trip will continue as scheduled. There is snow expected tonight, but as we will already be at the meet, we have been allowed to go. We will be returning after the snow is over.

NEW BALANCE GAMES - 2:15 PM BUS - UNLESS YOU ARE INFORMED OTHERWISE BY THE COACHING STAFF. The School Administration will let us know by 11 AM. We will post the status of the meet on the website and by e-mail.

BOYS #1 AND GIRLS #4 IN STATE RANKINGS

The Boys were ranked #1 in the State in Class B in the
MileSplit.com rankings and the Girls team was ranked
#4.

Kristi Licursi breaks 7:30 at Hispanic Games

Kristi Licursi led the way for the Tuskers at the Hispanic Games at
the Armory on Saturday, January 7th with a personal best time of
7:29.39. Kristi placed 9th and is currenlty ranked 3rd in Section One,
just 1 second off the State Qualifying standard. Maria Gorecki also
set a big personal record in the racewalk with an excellent time of
7:53.41 to place 16th.

The Girls 4 x 800 meter relay team posted a season best time of 9:49.3
at the Hispanic Games. Jackie Krueger led off with a personal best time
of 2:25.4. Sarah Corning looked great in a PR of 2:27.5. Juliette Cooper
ran the third leg in a solid time of 2:31.2. Bene Abbate, showing consistency
posted a time of 2:25.5 on the anchor.

The boys 4 x 800 matched their season best time of 8:20.6 at theHispanic
Games at the Armory. Scott Friedman broke 2:00 again with a time of
1:59.8 on the lead off leg. Dave Sammel posted a PR on the second leg with a
clocking of 2:04.7. Ryan Matsumoto ran a time of 2:08.6 in his first race back
after an ankle injury that sidelined him for two weeks. Justin Zorn toughed it
out to run 2:07.6 on the anchor leg after throwing up several times just five
minutes before the race. The team will run much faster soon!

Dendy Meet Highlights - Wedneday, January 4
at RCC
Boys: Joe Martello won the 400 meters in a time of 53.8.
Omri Blair had a big day in the jumps: 40'6 PR in the triple jump
for 2nd place and 19' 3.75" in the long jump for 3rd place.
Omri also placed 9th in the 200 meter dash on the slow RCC floor.
Dave Sammel won the 3200 meter run going away in 10:29.2.
Alex Mattos won the high jump at 5'6" and scored a PR in the
triple jump at 38'1" to place 7th. ALex also palced 5th n the 55
meter hurdles and posted a personal best time of 9.1 in the semis.
Scott Friedman placed 2nd in the 800 meter run after setting the
pace the whole way and posted a time of 2:03.3. Scott also showed
his speed with a clocking of 24.9 in the 200 to place 13th.
The Vaulters continued to look great, placing 4 vaulters in the top 6.
Kevin Nolan - 2nd at 11'6". Will Panzarino - 3rd at 11'0. Steven Graff
5th at 10' 6" and Mark Linkletter - 6th at 10 '6" - PR. Will Panzarino
also placed third in the high jump at 5' 4" and Linketter also set a PR
of 5'2" in the high jump.

GIRLS: Kristi Licursi won the 1500 meter racewalk with a time of 7:44.0.
Maria Gorecki placed 2nd in the RW with a time of 8:28.5.
Jackie Krueger won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:31.8. Jackie also
palced 4th in the 400 with a time of 67.8.
Cece Elmore placed 7th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.9 on the
slow RCC track. Tara Bergstrom and Alyssa Piranio both cleared 6'0" in
the pole vault to place 4th and 6th.

Boys - Big PR for Will Panzarino in the pole vault!! 12' 0" - 5th Place - Medal. This is a PR by
a foot for Will. Kevin Nolan - 11'0" and Steven Graff - 11' 0" - Tie 8th Place.
Mark Linkletter - 10' 0" - 10th place. We now have 2 vaulters over 12' 0" this season
with Kevin Nolan clearing 12'0" at the Mitchell Meet. This is one of our deepest pole
vault teams ever!

Distance Medley Relay - 11:36.5 - 4th place medals - All 4 guys ran great!!!
Dave Mink - 1200 meters - 3:37.1 - PR , Nick Schleissmann - 400 meters - 56.9 - PR
Kai Crannell - 800 meters - 2:12.3 - looked good coming off a 2 week illness

Newcomer senior Dave Arturi threw an impressive 39' 3" in his debut.
